East Tennessee Foundation and Consolidated Nuclear Security Announce Grant Opportunities for East Tennessee’s Nonprofit Organizations

CNS Y-12 employees are involved in corporate grantmaking to area nonprofits

EAST TENNESSEE – Applications for grants from the CNS Y-12 Community Investment Fund (CNS Y-12 Fund) of East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) will be available July 7, 2017.  Nonprofit organizations in the CNS Y-12 20-county service area with projects or programs which address community needs and opportunities in East Tennessee are encouraged to apply for one-year grants.  The 20-county service area includes, but is not limited to Anderson, Knox and Roane counties. Grant information and the list of eligible counties are currently available online at www.easttennesseefoundation.orgEligible organizations must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or other exempt entities such as public schools and governments/municipalities.

CNS operates the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN, and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX, for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration.  In addition to managing its two sites, CNS has established funds at East Tennessee Foundation and Amarillo Area Foundation (AAF) as part of their commitment to the host communities of Amarillo and Oak Ridge, as well as their local counties and regions.  By establishing these funds, CNS has created opportunities for ETF and AAF to create programs for CNS employees to work with their local community foundations to award grants benefitting nonprofit organizations in their respective regions. The 14-member CNS Y-12 Investment Advisory Committee will review applications and recommend grants to support nonprofit organizations whose projects, programs or activities address one or more of the committee’s three focus areas: health & well-being, arts & culture, and public safety & emergency services.

Grants will be awarded in November 2017 and will generally range from $2,000 to $20,000.  Applications must be submitted no later than August 7, 2017.
