East Tennessee Foundation Reaches One Million Dollar Threshold to Combat Critical Needs Created by COVID-19
May 29, 2020
East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) has raised over $1,000,000 for its Neighbor to Neighbor Disaster Relief Fund (N2N). Since making our first grant on March 19, the Foundation has made 87 grants totaling over $415,000 to nonprofit organizations serving 28 counties, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Grants are awarded on a weekly basis as the Foundation expedites its funding to support nonprofits and the people they serve.
ETF has responded quickly to provide disaster response and relief. The Foundation knows from experience that we also have a long road of recovery ahead. Therefore, we are planning a three phased approach. Approximately 40% of the grants may be awarded to assist with critical and immediate needs created by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. These may include but are not limited to food, housing, utilities, and health (physical & mental/emotional) needs. Approximately 30% may be awarded to assist with recurring critical needs, as well as lost revenue and continued operations of essential nonprofit services. We also estimate approximately 30% may be awarded to support long-term needs created by the pandemic, as well as support for nonprofit organizations’ long-term stability for their operations.
In total, ETF has mobilized a total of over $865,000 in grant awards to date from funds held by the Foundation for COVID-19 related causes as part of its #COVIDgiveWhereYouLive campaign. This includes grant recommendations made by fundholders of donor advised funds, field-of-interest funds, affiliate funds, and ETF’s Neighbor to Neighbor Disaster Relief Fund (N2N).
