Special Initiatives
From time to time ETF sponsors Special Projects. A Special Project is a way for a group or organization to receive the benefit of charitable deductions and technical assistance as it organizes its own Board and nonprofit status. In some cases ETF also serves as a sponsor for special events to raise resources to build the organization's fund at the Foundation.
East Tennessee Foundation entertains requests for two types of Special Projects:
1. Sponsorship of a Special Project whereby ETF manages the project for a group with the group’s intent of establishing a 501(c )(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
2. The second type of Special Project managed by ETF entails management and oversight for fundraising activities for a specific project to benefit the region or a community. With this type of Special Project the organization or group has a fund established with the Foundation.

In general ETF serves as a tax exempt entity to receive tax deductible contributions and manage the oversight and management of funds. All Special Project requests are reviewed for consideration and require approval by the ETF Board of Directors. ETF works on the premise that an endowed fund will be created with the Foundation to help sustain the organization and its benefit to the region.
