KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) is proud to announce the winners of the 2010 Gordon W. & Agnes P. Cobb Scholarship Fund, the Foundation's largest scholarship. Each of the three recipients has been awarded a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, for a total of up to $40,000 each.

This year three students from Knox County received the prestigious and highly competitive Gordon W. & Agnes P. Cobb Scholarship Award. The 2010 recipients are Katie Gowder of Hardin Valley Academy, Jason Johnson, currently attending Maryville College, and Elizabeth Zeller of Karns High School. 

P. Cobb Yoakum as a tribute to her late husband and his work in the field of medical science. The fund is intended to assist students living in Blount, Knox and Loudon counties who are passionate about pursuing medical-related careers. Since its inception, the Gordon W. and Agnes P. Cobb Scholarship Fund has awarded over one million dollars to area students.

"Each year East Tennessee Foundation celebrates the vision of Agnes P. Cobb Yoakum by awarding the Cobb Scholarships to extraordinary students who have chosen to study in a medical field. The endowment that Agnes created 14 years ago as a tribute to her husband's work in medical science will continue forever and his legacy is living on through each Cobb Scholar," said Mike McClamroch, President and CEO of East Tennessee Foundation.

East Tennessee Foundation currently administers 30 active scholarship programs assisting 101 students within a 25-county service area. The scholarships established through East Tennessee Foundation, by individuals, groups, families and friends, help fulfill the dreams of those wishing to pursue secondary education.

East Tennessee Foundation is a non-profit, regional community foundation awarding grants in 25 counties in East Tennessee. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation's mission is to create stronger communities and better lives through thoughtful giving.
