Six Students from Anderson County Receive Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship

East Tennessee Foundation announces winners of the 2010 Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. - East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) is proud to announce the winners of the 2010 Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year, the six students include: Brittany Bunch, Andrew Foust, Brittney Haire, Trevor Kennedy, and Rebecca Vanasse, all of Anderson County High School, and Melinda Johnson of Clinton High School.

"David and Pat Coffey created this scholarship in 1990 to help students overcome obstacles to achieving a college degree. East Tennessee Foundation is proud to be a partner in assisting these six outstanding Anderson County young people in furthering their educational goals," said Mike McClamroch, President and CEO of East Tennessee Foundation.

The Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship Fund of East Tennessee Foundation is designed to benefit high school graduates and adult residents of Anderson County who wish to pursue a college education. This unique program's goals are to encourage academic success, provide needed support and help students realize their full potential.

Pat and David Coffey established the Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship in honor of their son, who believed in the power of opportunity and education, and was a talented and successful businessman and family man. Together, the Coffey family and ETF are working to encourage the continuing growth of Anderson County in memory of Steven L. Coffey.

East Tennessee Foundation administers 31 active scholarship programs assisting over 100 students within a 25-county service area. The scholarships established through East Tennessee Foundation, by individuals, groups, families and friends, help fulfill the dreams of those wishing to pursue post-secondary education.

East Tennessee Foundation is a public, non-profit, regional community foundation serving 25 counties in East Tennessee. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the Foundation's mission is to create stronger communities and better lives through thoughtful giving.
