Knoxville, TN - Board of Directors, staff, donors, grantees and other East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) friends (a total of 200) gathered at The Foundry on January 24, 2012, for ETF's 25th Annual Meeting. The program addressed highlights of the past 25 years, how the Foundation marked its 25th anniversary, the state of the Foundation in 2011, and celebrated having granted $187 million since 1986, primarily in East Tennessee.
Following special recognitions and expressions of gratitude to individuals, Mike McClamroch, ETF President and CEO, shared how the Foundation chose to celebrate its 25th year: To highlight the work we do, ETF awarded 25/$2,500 grants (one $2,500 grant to one nonprofit in each of the 25 counties we serve) and one $25,000 ETF recognition endowment to a nonprofit located within our service area. And, a party/fundraiser increased the ETF Opportunity Fund, an unrestricted endowment that allows ETF to address crucial issues and respond to opportunities with delivery of charitable resources whenever and wherever they are most needed.
While reporting on the "State of the Foundation," Mike told stories of grants made throughout the East Tennessee region, goals met, and major initiatives undertaken in 2011. Initiatives including: Welcoming Trinity Compassion Health Foundation as an ETF supporting foundation, starting the Women's Fund of East Tennessee that raised $1.2 million in one year, completion of the Kingsport Community Foundation's Spirit Campaign Initiative with grants of $3.5 million, launching TNAchieves, a program that makes higher education more accessible, as an independent 501(c)(3), and establishing the Neighbor to Neighbor Disaster Relief Fund.
Established in 1986, East Tennessee Foundation is a public, nonprofit, community foundation created for the purpose of building charitable resources to make communities stronger and lives better through thoughtful giving. The Foundation serves East Tennessee by building endowments, providing services to donors, and making grants to programs and projects that benefit this region and its people.
ETF hosts the Annual Meeting every January. For further information about this event or other aspects of the Foundation, please contact Jackie Lane, V.P. for Communications, at (865)524-1223 or via e-mail at jlane@etf.org.
