ETF Announces Charitable Gift to Benefit Unicoi County

Generous gift from Studsvik, Incorporated helps grow an Affiliate Fund of East Tennessee Foundation

ERWIN, Tenn. - East Tennessee Foundation announced today a charitable gift in the amount of $4,170 from Studsvik, Inc. to support and grow the Fund for Unicoi County, an Affiliate Fund of East Tennessee Foundation (ETF). The Fund for Unicoi County was established in February 1999 by a gift from an anonymous donor to serve the people of Unicoi County by providing an on-going resource to fund endeavors creating opportunities and addressing challenges for all Unicoi County citizens.

President and CEO of Studsvik, Inc., Mr. Lewis Johnson, said, "organizations like the East Tennessee Foundation are crucial to creating and sustaining a prosperous region, and we hope this contribution will help the Fund for Unicoi County support a variety of organizations in our community."

Studsvik is an international corporation with its headquarters based in Sweden. The facility located in Erwin employs a work force of nearly 80 from Unicoi and the surrounding counties.

In addition to its contribution to the Fund for Unicoi County, Karen Kerns with Studsvik has also committed to serve on the local advisory board of the Fund for Unicoi County.

"We are committed to being a good corporate citizen, and having Studsvik's employees actively involved in various civic and community organizations is yet another way we are making an investment in our community," said Johnson.

East Tennessee Foundation, established in 1986, is a regional community foundation serving 25 counties in East Tennessee. With the mission of enriching lives and strengthening communities, ETF administers 12 affiliate funds, including the Fund for Unicoi County.

As an Affiliate Fund of ETF, the Fund for Unicoi County (Fund) is governed by a local advisory board made up of citizens living in Unicoi County. Through local leadership and commitment, the Fund for Unicoi County provides opportunities for individuals, families and companies to make charitable contributions that will be used over time to make grants to local non-profit organizations, public schools, and other community-based efforts to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Unicoi County.
