East Tennessee Foundation Provides Scholarship for Anderson County High School Students Enrolling in Roane State Community College Middle College Program

March 12, 2018

The Steven L. Coffey Memorial Middle College Scholarship is a unique scholarship created to help Anderson County high school students take advantage of a recently developed educational program. The scholarship will offer financial assistance for high school students who have been accepted into the Roane State Community College (RSCC) Middle College Program.

The RSCC Middle College Program is a two-year program in which high school juniors and seniors enroll full-time at RSCC and receive an associate’s degree and a high school diploma simultaneously.

Because high school students are not eligible for most scholarship assistance, East Tennessee Foundation learned that some eligible high school students were not participating in the RSCC Middle College Program due to lack of financial resources. The Steven L. Coffey Memorial Middle College Scholarship, which awards two-year renewable scholarships in the amount of $2,500 per year, was established to help make this opportunity available to eligible Anderson County high school students.

Applications for the Steven L. Coffey Memorial Middle College Scholarship will be available on the East Tennessee Foundation website, http://www.etf.org/scholarships, March 15, 2018.  The application deadline is May 12, 2018.
